What’s new in the telemanagement applications industry?  We’ve posted 53 new items in the “Industry News” section of our web site today, and invite you to review them.

Of special note:

-- Telco Research is set to come back to life – Peregrine Systems confirmed that it just concluded a deal to sell the much-transferred Nashville-based telemanagement icon.  The buyer:  Symphony Technology Group, an enterprise software investment firm based in Palo Alto, but with eight other “portfolio” companies around the U.S.

-- ACECOMM [NASDAQ: ACEC] gets a $1,000,000 initial order from a new distributor focusing on the China market for its Convergent Mediation™ technology and Enterprise OSS products. The new strategic alliance with Westlake Global Technology Solutions also includes an investment to acquire 5% of ACEC and a “master reseller agreement” for China.

-- ProfitLine is first telemanagement applications company to be named a “Best Company To Work For.”  The San Diego Business Journal recognized the telecom invoice management and outsourcing firm for excellence in a number of categories, including employee communication, cultural diversity and core values.

-- @Comm – pronounced “AtComm” – [OTC: ATCM] –  whose trade slogan is “Beyond Call Accounting” is clearly still in the call accounting business.  Their newest versions of their Xiox CommView software products, announced last week, provide “data drill-down” features, which are not yet common among midrange systems.

-- “The Brains of the Operation” -- Finally, I’m proud to mention that our own research assistant, Colin Jones, was the #1 analyst and trader among all entrants in this fall’s Washington Stock Market Simulation competition, moving a mock portfolio from $100,000 on October 7, 2002 to $157,872 eight weeks later. Last Friday he was featured in The Olympian, photo and everything!  (Too bad it wasn’t real money.  But if it were, I probably would have had to find another research assistant.)

Colin is a senior at Olympia High School, Academic Decathlon winner, digital artist … and works at The Ergotec Group three days each week, maintaining our LAN and PCs, updating databases, Google-ing and hunting on Yahoo! Finance, and more.  If you can pull any strings to help get him into M.I.T. or Amherst College, please let me know.
