About Us

February 4, 2003

February was a light month for news in the telemanagement industry.  But we just posted 18 new items in the “Industry News” section of our web site today, and invite you to review them.

Apart from what’s there, here is news you won’t find anywhere* else:

Equitrac Acquires ICG Research

Probably the best-known vendor of “document accounting systems,” Equitrac last month acquired another of its competitors, ICG Research, a firm little-known in the “call accounting systems” which in recent years has stepped up its emphasis on telephone cost recovery systems marketed primarily to professional services firms.  Like most transactions in this space, between private parties, neither price nor terms are being disclosed.

Good news from @Comm:

You can’t say “bankrupt” about them anymore:   After my last letter, At Comm [OTC: ATCM] President Bill Welling called to chat and mentioned that his firm has successfully exited the bankruptcy process.  Recapitalized, and partly owned by former creditors, @Comm emerges with no debt, and no operations outside of telemanagement.  The bankruptcy came as a result of the burst of the dotcom bubble, after which the continued development and marketing of their TownSquare all-in-one communications server couldn’t be continued.  No, none of this is on their web site, as they’ve decided, at least for now, to promote neither the bad news nor the good news about this unpleasant process.

Telco Research + Teletron = Symphony Services

Just weeks after announcing its acquisition of the Telco Research business from Peregrine Systems, industry newcomer Symphony Services announced on Valentine’s Day that they also have acquired Teletron, the formerly high-flying telecom invoice management vendor that claimed basketball legend Larry Bird among its promoters.

Nortel Course:  MAT vs. OTM

If you’ve got $599 and 5.99 hours and want to learn details about the differences between Nortel’s old and new applications families, sign up for the online course they are offering on March 25.  Use Internet Explorer (my Mozilla wouldn’t open this link):
